Thanksgiving Staycation

Some of the cards I worked on during my "staycation."

Man, thinking about this blog posting makes me feel very single, very single...er I mean independent, yeah, independent.

Despite being sad not being with family for Thanksgiving, I tried my best to enjoy my Thanksgiving staycation.

Wednesday night I had dinner at Mitzi's and got to hang out with my best dog friend, Bear.

Thursday morning Mitzi, her sister Veronica, our friend Sheila, and I did the Turkey Trot. It was a 5 mile race, not a 5K mind you. Mitzi and Veronica ran the course while Sheila and I walked it, jogging down all the hills...there were several giant hills to climb. We were happy to finish in less than an hour and a half. It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving morning. I spent the rest of the day getting some much needed couch time. Let's just say it was a very Domino's Thanksgiving and I realized I really don't care for Domino's. Oh, I did actually finish one of the four books I've been reading so I did accomplish something.

Friday and Saturday I made some cards in preparation for next Saturday's Acknowledge Me DIY Festival. I experimented with some new holiday cards made out of vintage children's book pages and a J Crew catalog.

Friday night I saw "Four Christmases" with Mitzi, Veronica, and Sheila. It was so much funnier than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised.

Saturday I went on a few errands and found a "new treasure" at Goodwill. Yes, I bought a paint-by-numbers painting of a boxer (dog), framed and all. I have a thing for paint-by-numbers as well as portraits of animals. It's now hanging in my bedroom.

Sunday I went to the movies again and saw "Role Models," reaffirming my love for Paul Rudd.

I would have rather had spent the holiday with my family, but I am grateful that I got in some much needed time to relax, reflect, and be creative.
