"Give and it will be given to you."

I had lunch today with some friends at Nubian Queen Lola's Cajun Kitchen on the quirky eastside of Austin. The owner/cook/waitress/cashier/and more, Lola (yes she does it ALL), has an amazing story. http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/review?oid=oid%3A329498 In a nutshell she was homeless for two years, came up with enough money to open up a tiny restaraunt, and closes her restaraunt on Sundays to feed the homeless. Apparently there are two documentaries about her. I had the pleasure of meeting her, learning her story, and eating her delicious homecooking. I had catfish, maccaroni and cheese, and red beans and rice. All made from scratch. It was a great way to celebrate Mardi Gras and a nice reminder that there are some amazing people out there doing so much for the community. If you read the article you will see that Queen Lola is a huge believer in Luke 6:38, which reads, "Give and it will be given to you." When we left today she told us she was blessed to have us today. My friend turned around and said, "No Lola, I think you have blessed us." (Queen Lola is in the blue sweater in the middle.)
