Decoratin' on the Brain

It all started with this dish towel...sort of.

I know you all (Kate) are all on the edge of your seats wondering what the "h" Jessica has been up to!  Well, besides a great work conference in DC, a wonderful girls' trip in NYC, and working my butt off, not literally unfortunately, I've got decorating on my mind.

I had my first Jonathan Adler store experience in NYC and I purchased the dish towel pictured above as a souvenir.  I knew I liked him before but this store visit made me start drooling over him and helped me get more excited about my move next month.  Bobby and I are moving out of our 1 bed/1 bath into a 2 bed/2 bath.  I am so ready to create a new and hopefully put together bedroom and am beyond excited about having an extra room dedicated to our hobbies:  Bobby and his vinyl record collecting and me and my various arts and crafts.

Goodwill Ceramic Phone Find

I made a trip to Goodwill where I picked up a few odds and ends for the new bedroom and new "hobby/extra/guest" room including the ceramic phone above.  It just makes me smile for some reason and I can't wait to put it on our new desk.

Jonathan Adler's Home Office

And then I saw this...Jonathan Adler's home office...and thought, wow, that shoe sculpture thing sure reminds me of that silly phone sculpture thing!  (The same thing happened with a giant decorative key that I bought a month ago.  The owner of the thrift store informed me that Jonathan Adler used similar keys in a hotel lobby he designed.)  I've concluded that I must be part Jonathan Adler.

But besides obsessing over JA (and waiting for the arrival of his book that I ordered), Bobby and I have been on thrift store/craigslist hunts lately.  This weekend we bought this:

and Bobby really wanted to carve our initials in it but that's not what he's doing here.  He's just scraping paint off of it.

This is the comforter I bought months ago in anticipation of redecorating the bedroom.  I plan on painting some of my existing furniture (probably white and robin's egg blue) and incorporating some of my thrift store "treasures" into the whole plan.  I'll do my best to post some before and after photos!  It feels good to be inspired have yet another creative outlet!

That shoe is actually a butter dish - no joke!

Susan-that's great because I like functional art! My ceramic phone is also a little paper/notepad holder.
