Blanco Lavender Festival

Texas Lavender Hills Farm-there were cute little seating areas all over the farm.

(A few years of blogging and I still haven't learned how to put my pictures in order or how to delete the ones I accidentally upload!)

Anyhow, Bobby and I went to the Blanco Lavender Festival on Sunday. Blanco is in the Hill Country about an hour away from Austin. First we went to the festival and shopped around the vendor booths and antique shops. I bought a lavender candle, oil, and room spray. I've always been a fan of lavender so I was kind of in heaven. We tried lavender ice cream...not too bad, but not great. I may have to go back to Blanco just to get a bracelet I fell in love with at one of the antique shops. (It had a black and white silhouette image on it and I'm totally digging silhouettes right now.) After shopping we sat in the park, ate lunch, and watched some kids play covers of Iron Maiden and other bands before we walked to the river.

After the festival we visited one of the Blanco lavender farms. There were five farms giving tours and I picked the one that looked the prettiest, Texas Lavender Hills Farm & Market. It was about five miles from the festival at the top of a hill. Turns out it had been featured in Martha Stewart Living a couple of years ago. It was beautiful. We stopped in the adorable market to buy some scissors and twist ties so I could cut my own lavender, a first for me. I'm going to dry them and eventually make a sachet. The day is exactly what I needed after a somewhat stressful week. Now I have plenty of lavender products to help me through future stressful weeks!

The lavender I picked and the lavender stress ball that Bobby got for me.

Cutting lavender.

Lunch time. The shrimp and crab kabobs were delicious.

Jessica...once you have uploaded a picture, you can click it to select it and then you can drag it around to change the order. Also, once you have selected a picture by clicking it, you just hit the delete button on your computer and it is gone!!! Not that your picture order bothers me, just thought I'd help!

Susan, that's exactly what I tried doing! I don't know if it's my template or what. I click on it and it gives me the boxes around it but it won't let me do anything with it! Next time I see you we'll have to try it together!

if dragging doesn't work, try ctrl x to cut it and then put your cursor where you'd rather that it be and hit ctrl v to paste it there.

you look way skinny. are you eating these days?

btw - I agree - lavendar as a scent is cool but as a food it's not. I see lots of lavendar chocolate, but it tastes like a flower to me.
