I helped work on five, FIVE!, Mortified pieces today with our awesome head producer. It was an interesting day to say the least (remind me to tell you about what happened at the coffee shop the next time I talk to you) and I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I'm lucky to be learning from such pros.
There is some good stuff coming up in our shows this Monday and Tuesday at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz, including a film made by a guy when he was in high school and a book report on rap music by a 5th grade immigrant from Ukraine. I am still just amazed by every one's stories about growing up. I love learning about these individuals and helping them tell their story while trying to get the biggest laughs possible. Getting a big laugh on stage is one of the best feelings I've experienced. It makes all the nerves worth it. As a producer of this project now, it's still rewarding when the performers kill it.
As stressed as I am between helping with the show, work and extra work, planning the wedding, and neglecting the cleanliness of our apartment; I'm happy that we'll be putting some folks in Austin in a good mood on Monday and Tuesday.
Austin friends-get your tickets online before they sell out!
Friends in other cities such as Chicago, NYC, Portland, LA, etc.-go see a Mortified show in your city! Laughing is good for you. Also, you should submit your own embarrassing childhood archives.
