Stress in Haiku Form

stress in my body
tight neck tight back tight shoulders
must learn to relax

Seriously, I have to tell my body to put its shoulders down, to not clench its hands and jaw, to loosen its back.  It is not good.  Pretty sure waking up at night with hands in fists is not a good thing.  I am going to be testing out whether or not exercise eases stress and tension starting tomorrow.  I haven't worked out in a very LONG time.  Yikes.   Circuit class-bring it.

yikes! circuit class sounds like a tough place to start. I hope it doesn't make you never want to go back.

how about simple walking in the evening to ease into it? add a couple lunges, squats and modified push ups and call it a day.

as for the tension, it's like you should read the Bradley method birth book! I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's all about visualizing and thinking about how to let/make your muscles relax. Granted, it's aimed at doing that during contractions, but it would work anytime. Maybe I can photocopy you a few pages and send them?

Joe and I just started doing stretches every night before bed. He's done it for like 3 nights and I've only done it for 1, but I hope it becomes a pattern. Seems nice.

Sorry for novel of a comment to your haiku.

I appreciate the comment, Kate! It's true I haven't worked out in a gym in a few years. I enjoyed the circuit class I took before, plus structured classes were always better for me in terms of pushing myself.

I chose this class because it's during work hours with 5 other lady coworkers who I know will give me a hard time if I skip!

It was a good workout today and I know I'll be feeling it even more over the next two days.

As far as the tension-I'd be interested to read a few pages so feel free to send some over!
