Reason #1636 Why I Love Austin

Sunday night I met up with my friend Meghan at a bar downtown called The Tiniest Bar in Texas. Meghan is also from Columbia. I went to school with her brother Patrick from 7th grade through college. I hadn't seen Meghan in months even though a few years ago we hung out every week. Sunday night was so much fun. Every Sunday The Tiniest Bar hosts "Austin Swim." They show "Adult Swim" and the Onion News Network on a big screen, have a stand-up comic, a musician plays, there's a blow-up pool if you feel like watching from it, a silly swimsuit contest, and prizes." All of this for $5 while you sit outside in the middle of downtown-literally almost on the street across from Whole Foods and surrounded by the ever-growing condos. The coordinator of "Austin Swim" sat with us and was so nice. He's part of a group working to save Austin music. The night made me proud to be an "Austinite." (Am I one now? I'm almost at my 7 year anniversary believe it or not!)
