Home Sweet Hometown Day 3 (Friday...the nieces visit)

Me and Lola

Boston the foster chihuahua puppy rescued from a puppy mill-he's so young his ears don't even stand up yet! He's such a good puppy.

My dad wants to adopt Boston so bad but my mom rules the house and says no.

Friday in Columbia my mom and I ate lunch at the new Uprise Bakery/Ragtag Cinema/9th Street Video Combo. All three business were in separate buildings and now have combined into one and it's pretty cool. When I lived in Columbia I walked down to 9th Street Video to rent all of my movies. At first when I walked by the old building I was really bummed because I thought they had closed but am so happy for them that they get to be a part of this venture. Uprise was a bakery I visited a few times and my parents' favorite to pick up French bread. Ragtag was started by one of my high school crushes, an indie movie cinema that also serves food and alcohol.

When you walk into the new building you first walk into Uprise Bakery. There's a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. My mom and I had a great lunch there. The entrance to the cinema is just to the right of where you order at the bakery and 9th St. video is to the right of the cafe seating area. I'm so excited for Columbia to have this.

We spent the rest of the day shopping until my brother, sister-in-law, and my two fur-nieces (my sister-in-law calls them her fur kids) plus one foster fur nephew came to visit from Kansas City. A good chunk of the time when the dogs are around is just watching and playing with them. Lily is very attached to my sister-in-law, but Lola and the foster puppy, Boston, love to play. My brother and sister-in-law have SIX chihuahuas right now! Their two and then four foster pups. I started calling my brother the chihuahua wrangler. They only brought three with them and that was enough to have around without stepping on one! We spent the evening at a BBQ at my sister-in-law's relatives' house not too far from my family's home. Her family is always like an instant party and these are the times I see a side of my parents I don't always want to see like a few Christmases ago when my parents got a little too carried away with shots and my sister-in-law's brother had to drive us to mass. At Friday's BBQ I had the "pleasure" of hearing my dad use the term "junk" when talking about my sister-in-law's sister's fiancee becoming a urologist. Good awkward times as always.

I remember you telling me about the Ragtag Cinema at my house on Tuesday. That is very cool. Columbia is definitely cooler than Lafayette. You are totally winning the "Who has the coolest hometown game" between me, you, and the r's.
