I got into Columbia, Missouri Wednesday afternoon and hung out with my mom and her cute daycare kids. Later it was off to Cooper's Landing, a campground on the Missouri River not too far from my parents' house. There's always a variety of people there-campers, people just hanging out watching the sunset, people fishing, musicians, and artists.

My parents and their friends ride their bikes there every Wednesday night for their $1 Stag Beer. My mom actually has a wine cooler because she's not much of a beer drinker. The camp store has random drinks, food, and camping needs. I bought a souvenir beer koozie. If you're really hungry then you can eat at the airstream trailer next door to the camp store where they sell Thai food. It actually isn't that bad.

Me, my mom, and dad.

My view of the Missouri River from where we were sitting. My mom said that a few weeks ago it was flooded all the way up to the store. Basically where we sat was under water just a little bit ago. We were wondering what these wooden painted people were when the artist who painted them sat down at our table.

He's a former insurance salesman and now an artist who hangs out by the river. My parents see him every week but said this was the first time he actually sat down and talked to them. He was quite a character. Rumor has it he's in his 90's but I don't know. He showed us his latest painting that he's working on.
I now try to make it a point to arrive on a Wednesday to Columbia when I visit in the warmer months so I can join in on the Cooper's Landing tradition.
