Here's what the heck is up. I've been MIA from the blog because work days are insane and I am wiped out at night. That's really no excuse because the rest of you have more going on than I do but you still manage to keep up with your blog. Anyway, "jessica is weird" is going partially mobile so hopefully I'll do a better job of posting more regularly. Granted posts will probably be shorter and more random.
This is one of our busiest times of year at work. We're still in beginning of school year crazy mode and I've been subbing at afterschool sites almost daily. I'm learning a lot about vampires and crossing the Mexican border. Next week I'll have my first Texas coast experience with a work retreat to Port Aransas, Texas.
At home I'm trying to be a good girlfriend and dog mom. This week I helped Bobby with the design of his blog. I am so impressed by his dedication to this project-listening to all of his records in alphabetical order. If you know any vinyl collectors please direct them to "1000 Days of Vinyl.". Just like Julie from"Julie and Julia," I think he's got something here and I'll play the role of supportive husband, I mean girlfriend.
Creatively in this little brain of mine I've got ideas waking me up at night about projects at work and home. Waking me up in a good way but it helps to have a notebook in my bedside table so I can jot down the ideas and get back to sleep.
Mortified is the creative project that I am most excited about right now. The show went wonderfully this summer and the last night was bittersweet. I didn't want to say goodbye so to speak. I met some amazing people, laughed my ass off, and made some other folks laugh. Off the record, (I say off the record because I feel like it's not officially official yet) I am supposed to help with producing the next Austin show. This means I'd get to be a part of casting then be assigned to a performer, learn their story and write their piece. I smile every time I think about this.(Please let this work out!) My whole life my heroes have been people who make me laugh. I secretly day dreamed about working with the Kids in the Hall, MST3K, and The State. Phil Hartman's death hurt me. The deal is that I have great respect for comedians and writers who can make me laugh. Working with the amazing Mortified producers will teach me so much. I feel like the luckiest dork in the world.
P.S. Friends in Chicago-You should check out Mortified Chicago on Thursday, October 7th at Beat Kitchen.
