Run Like Robot Virtual 5k

I walked a virtual 5K called "Run Like Robot" this weekend organized by this cool girl, Kat.  (Check out her blog and other Run Like Robot postings here.)  I found out about this fun "race" through my friend Kate in Chicago.  Her Run Like Robot blog posting is hilarious.  Check it out.  Basically people from different cities signed up, Kat sent us really cute shirts, and we all ran or walked the race in our shirts on the same day in all different places.

I think everyone else ran the 5k but I am not there yet so I walked.  Actually I'm pretty sure I'll never be there because as much as I want to be, I don't love running.  Never say never though, right?

Although hot and humid on "race day", it was a beautiful breezy morning in my neighborhood in Austin, Texas. The pretty flowers and trees make it a scenic little route. I listened to the Old 97's on my iPod while I walked and was excited when I reached the one house in the neighborhood that always keeps a cooler of water outside for all of the runners, walkers, and cyclists. I cooled off when I got home by jumping in the pool.

I promise myself to keep on trying to get fit and maybe try a little bit of running.

So many pretty wildflowers and plants to look at in my neighborhood.

I'm lucky to live in an area of town with so many wonderful bike lanes.  This means tons of cyclists, runners, and walkers in the hood.  This thoughtful family always leaves water out for people and pets.  So nice when it's 100 degrees and humid!

Me post race outside my apartment looking "tired like robot."

P.S.  I did try jogging a little bit the weekend before so I'm not totally against the idea.

I like how we never discussed doing robot poses but many of us thought to do it!
