SXSW 2010

My ninth (is that right, my NINTH?!) South by Southwest has come and gone and it was a great one.  It kind of made me feel my age realizing that I need to do either the day parties OR the night stuff, not both.  I had a wristband so I stuck with mainly night shows.  This SXSW marks one year since Bobby and I met so we had fun thinking about "this time last year..."  Anyway, Bobby was an excellent SXSW partner. We saw a good amount of bands and actually a lot of comedy.  Some of my favorite shows were:  She & Him, a Japanese band called Peelander-Z, Cheap Trick, The Bodeans, a metal band fronted by a petite blond girl called Salome, and Califone.  We probably saw more than 10 comedians and I loved it.  Overall they were fantastic but some of the highlights were seeing Doug Benson and Margaret Cho.  I didn't think I'd like her stand-up but she was surprisingly hilarious.  My feet and lower back are happy that it's all over but it's also kind of sad.  It's like coming back from a vacation I guess.  Back to reality tomorrow but now hopefully with more motivation to get out there and see more music and comedy in this amazing town.
