I returned to work from vacation in Mexico just in time for Halloween weekend and our annual "Boofet" and costume contest at work. I did not dress up this year (I dress up as "casual Friday" anytime our celebration falls during the week) because honestly I forgot but my awesome coworkers did. Zach is the Hutto (a small town near work that is covered in Hippo statues) Hippo and Tara is Kim from Desperate Housewives of Atlanta. Don't be tardy to the party! Sorry, that doesn't make sense if you don't watch that ridiculous show.
Here I am with coworker and friend, Shayna. Umm, no, she didn't just go into our bathroom and come up with this mummy costume. Shayna just became a new mom so I insisted on calling her a "mommy" rather than a mummy.
Friday night of Halloween weekend Bobby and I met up with Madelyn and Cody for some miniature golf at Peter Pan. It was one of the few chilly Austin nights that we've had but we had a blast! The cold was also a good excuse for me to drink a Starbuck's hot chocolate with whipped cream with full on fat milk and everything because you know, I was still on "vacation."
This most recent weekend while Bobby was living out his childhood dream of seeing AC/DC, I went to the cute town of New Braunfels for Wurstfest..."The Ten Day Salute to Sausage." I had so much fun with Cody, Madelyn, Madelyn's super cool coworker, Lorena, and Justin. I couldn't get over all the food! I got a turkey leg but got to also experience one of Cody's sausage cheese rolls, some of Madelyn's apple strudel, Lorena's rice pudding, and to top it all off, Cody surprised us with my favorite, funnel cake! It was the most delicious funnel cake I had ever eaten.
In addition to food and beer, Wurstfest had multiple polka bands (yes I did the Chicken Dance and yes, I did get to hear a medley of patriotic songs done polka style) and a carnival. I LOVE taking pictures at carnivals. I wish I had brought my bigger camera but I thought this one turned out okay for a camera phone pic.
Fun, Fun, Fun Fest was also this weekend in Austin. It is a relatively new cool and small music festival with some great comedy acts thrown in too. That's my favorite part. Although I was interested in going I never got a ticket for this year. Bobby got one from his work so I had planned a weekend of errands and reading until Bobby surprised me with a Saturday pass. The cool thing was, the girl at the gate messed up and slapped a weekend pass wristband on my arm. Sweet!!! Until it rained all day Sunday and we decided to avoid the battle with rain and mud. I know I know, we should have just toughed it out. My biggest regret is not seeing Metalligher. I can't imagine that it gets any better than a band that combines the best of both worlds: Metallica and watermelon smashing Gallagher.
Rainy Sunday ended up being a nice lazy Sunday. Bobby and I went to one of my favorite grocery stores, Fiesta, so I could stock up on two candies I'm loving right now: rice candy and ginger candy. Maybe I was a small Asian girl in a past life. I don't know how else to understand my love of the packaging of this rice candy or for Hello Kitty. We also began watching season one of Mad Men. We've only watched three episodes as Netflix only sends a disc at a time, but so far so good!

Looks like/sounds like so much fun.
Love the shark pic.
Also love the amount of Missouri pride that Bobby is displaying in his attire of late.
Also, I still contend that you 2 look very cute together. Keep it up. : )
P.S. Dude, you know hippos are my favortie animal, right? How is this the first I've heard of Hutto?
