EAST Weekend Part II

This Kwyjibo (Bobby's dog) look alike running around at one of the art studios dressed up in a lion costume cracked me up.

This tree amazed me.  It is made completely out of metal.  We visited with the artist who showed us what a branch of metal leaves looks like before being attached to the tree.  In order to give the leaves more texture he created this contraption to indent each one by running his car over them!

The second weekend of EAST, East Austin Studio Tour, was a great experience.  I look forward to fellow BoCoMo'ian Meghan organizing a group every year to meet for lunch and then go check out some studios.  We met at Juan in a Million and I had my first Don Juan.  For those of you who watch Man vs. Food, this was what Adam Richman had to eat for the food competition portion.  It is a gigantic breakfast taco.  I barely made a dent but if I remember correctly Adam ate nine of them.  It was yummy!  The studios we visited were all great.  I wish we would have had time to visit even more of them.  I still can't get over how many artists and much creativity exists in this town.
